UX Design isn’t UX
- The experience of users.
- The practice of User Experience Design.
- The role of User Experience Designer.
Three distinct concepts that are too often conflated under the term “UX”. This makes talking about UX Design harder than it needs to be. Communicating clearly is part of design, so lets stop using vague, confusing language. Using “UX” alone should be considered harmful; say what you mean.
Two more UX language errors:
- It has good UX. Good and bad experiences are things that happen to people. A product or design cannot “have good user experience”.
- It is good UX to … Says who? The only way “it’s good UX” can make sense is if UX is a religion with dogma that it can be measured against. It isn’t.
